This book has done what no traditional textbook will: explain the WHY of math instead of drilling rules and formulas into the student. I personally would have hooked up with Elizabeth.
Thought it was quite interesting how they went into the future and back to their own time again. This counters the trend of the past 150 years which has leaned havily on historical criticsm, analytics, and textually obsessed rationalists to pave our spiritual pathways. I am just amazed that people, even highly intelligent and skilled people, could take on such an enormous task and bring it off successfully.
He writes in a matter of fact way about how it was all done, and he is generous with praise for others. I wasn't planning on reviewing this book, but I was compelled by the one star reviews that complained about Ackerman's backyard observations.
