I loved this book. I personally liked the first and the third best. The author puts into layman's terms how and why disasters occur. They feel "cozy" yet are never necessarily the same.
I think the story should appeal to people who've never fished the spring creeks of WI but just enjoy a wonderfully told story about a kid growing up fishing familiar streams whose now long removed from those streams but the streams never leave your memories.. I do not recommend this book as a introduction to this author, but those who already love Ackerman's style will delight in it. A must have.
I have over two shelves full of natural health care books for pets, but this is the most concise, best written book ever.
