JAMES HOARE spent over thirty years in the British Diplomatic Service, with postings to Seoul and Beijing. His last job was Chargé D’Affaires in Pyongyang, North Korea, where he established the first-ever British Embassy. He has written numerous books and articles about East Asia, including Embassies in the East: The Story of the British and Their Embassies in China, Japan and Korea from 1859 to the Present (1999), and, with his wife, Susan Pares, Conflict in Korea: An Encyclopedia (1999).
I own the last 6 years of the Handbook, 2 from Amazon and the prior years off of eBay and will continue to purchase for years to come. Do not expect to just breeze through this book. Leeson is highly intelligent and writes exceedingly well. Wow, how did we get to book six already? There are several things I like about this series:
1.The writing: I enjoy Grant's writing style. To assume that humanity would have a fighting chance runs contrary to Lovecraftian approach. This book is about the political machinations and financial ups and downs that preceded the actual building of the NP. Everyone wanted him to stay.
What didn't you like about Colt-
It was the speech he made about how things would change, esp. Fighting For the Soviet Motherland: Recollections from the Eastern Front
By Dmitriy Loza, Hero of the Soviet Union
Edited and Translated by James F. They walked some 600 miles across Italy to rejoin the Allied forces!
