- There seems to be no recognition about the differences between fundamental/theoretical and applied research. However, in applied GIS research, positivist methods are used extensively. And A Matter Of Inclination by Harper was very nice as well. And much to my relief and pleasure, this book does not go in that direction. I recommend it highly for anyone interested in the ways in
