We did not fear fat. I am drawn to Mary Shomon's books as an historian. While none of the stories was written on my “Mother Tongue”, each was “A Good Read”. After the movie, they get together and discuss what they have seen.
Although I have never read any Maisy books before, I enjoyed MAISY GOES TO THE MOVIES. As a retired early childhood teacher, I lament that this book wasn't published a couple of decades earlier! It's crammed with high-level yet practical suggestions for enriching the play of children in several classroom centers (blocks, dramatic play, science, reading, math, and art). Very interesting reading. This book reads very much like sitting across the table in that resort cafeteria, and hearing Chuck tell stories in his unassuming style. If only the pivotal plot point had been developed a little more. The book's essays as I stated earlier are not always in chronological order and that makes it difficult to follow. And finally, lots of val
